This was my morning laugh. Hey wait…what the…bigfoot?! Telekinesis?! CROPCIRCLES?!

Well clearly this table itself is irrational nonsense. I mean…FAIRIES? You know what happens when we don’t believe in them right? FAIRY KILLER!!! Get to clapping people…get to clapping….sheesh…

[Disclaimer I am very happily irrational thank you very much :-) ]

Who thought it would be a Terminator-like blob of metallic oozing magnetism taking us out? Sure it’s only a little tin can of the stuff. But it’s only a matter of time before it figures out the power in numbers and mass right?

You can pick up your own can of magnetic thinking putty at Vat 19 for just $13.50 (if it wasn’t sold out) and help bring about the demise of our world as we know it.

It’s a boat!…It’s a plane!…It’s programmable paper!

“Programmable matter by folding”…it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. And the abstract is kind of a dry read. But the video showing the “programmable paper“…the brainchild of MIT and Harvard scientists…in all of it’s origami-like action…now that’s cool.

As I sit here writing an article that involves some research that involves outer space I ran into this quote which cracked me up so much I had to share…

We journalists…are also extremely impressed with scientists, and we will, frankly, print just about any wacky thing they tell us, especially if it involves outer space” – Dave Barry

But is it science?…

It looks, feels and tastes like chicken…

soychickenbut it’s not.

Hm…this kinda gives me the willies.

Scientists at the University of Missouri have apparently been working for years to turn soy into a product that truly appears and feels like chicken. They specifically have been trying to recreate that stringy meat quality of chicken. In chicken this is one thing. In a soy product it somehow feels just a tad off.

There is a video, but no imbed code so I can’t share it with you. But after watching the thing I can safely say you don’t really want to see it. Trust me. I took a bullet for you here. Seeing that stuff extruded from those machines…shudder.

What? You DO want to see it?

Well here are some stills…

Not enough? You want to watch the video you say?

Okay, you asked for it. The link is below. Go watch. But if you do promise me you will come back here and leave me a comment with your thoughts. Deal?

I so enjoyed this I thought I should share it with the rest of you (and by rest of you I of course mean the 2 or so people that occasionally read or watch something on this blog…you know who you are).

“A Glorious Dawn – Cosmos remixed” is a sweet little musical tribute to Carl Sagen and Stephen Hawking done by musician John Boswell of colorpulse. It is composed almost entirely of footage culled from the Cosmos and Universe series.

Many thanks to Iain Tait at crackunit for bringing it to my attention
