Blogging and being nice…

I’m being a terrible blogger again lately. I had a whole weekend to blog. But did I? Noooooo.

I got to wondering why I am going through this dry spell and I concluded there is nothing at all mysterious about it. It’s simply a proximity to my computer thing. Well that’s the bottom line of it at least.

When I was a part of the great Underemployed Class I was here at my computer during the day. Dashing off a blog when something struck me as funny, cute, stupid, or creative was easy. But being back at a 9 to 5 means I am simply here less. And, of course, I now jealously guard my weekends and refuse to sit at this desk for any length of time.

So yeah, no real mystery.

I am going to experiment with writing down things that I think about during the week. Perhaps they will inspire me to post things more often again. I am more of a spontaneous poster..but since that is not working out for me I’ll give this a try.

One thing that did inspire me…or..well…made me laugh was this below that The Bloggess made. I love the sentiment. Less freaking drama people. Please. :-)

Video of the snow disaster…one of them starring Cat

So it is part two of the snow disaster here in Baltimore. We have another 8 to 12(?) inches being dumped on us right now. Not to mention the white out blizzard conditions. Wheeeeee!

Here are a couple of videos for anyone who is not getting to experience the storm first hand.

One of them stars Cat, who is not at all amused by the blizzard. Notice the back gate almost buried. In the other one notice the snow mountain in the front yard. We have run out of places to put the stuff.

The snow has now stopped falling. The winds have quieted. The great blizzard of 2010 has come to a close and I am already a little wistful.

I have heard various things for the final number of inches. I am going with 30 for now.

Here are a few more pics for those of you who aren’t getting to experience it first hand. Click on photos to get bigger versions.

The Great Baltimore Snowpocalypse of 2010!!

I am still like a kid when it comes to snow.  It never really gets old for me.  I measure out my years in terms of the “Blizzard of ’79…96…03…” So I am over the top excited about the blizzard of 2010 that is going on outside my doors right now at this very moment.

I will forever be amused, and yes I must admit a tad bit annoyed, by the mind-losing freakout that occurs here in Baltimore whenever there is a forecast for a bit of the white stuff. This time, however, I will give you all a break.

You go right ahead and freak out over the Snowpocalypse of 2010. I believe we have now shot right on past the 24 inches mark so it’s almost called for this time around. I however am going to suit up and head out again to take more pics, shovel, and glory in the beautiful snow.

Here are a few pics from this morning. Click on the photos for bigger versions.  Awesome isn’t it? :-)

It looks, feels and tastes like chicken…

soychickenbut it’s not.

Hm…this kinda gives me the willies.

Scientists at the University of Missouri have apparently been working for years to turn soy into a product that truly appears and feels like chicken. They specifically have been trying to recreate that stringy meat quality of chicken. In chicken this is one thing. In a soy product it somehow feels just a tad off.

There is a video, but no imbed code so I can’t share it with you. But after watching the thing I can safely say you don’t really want to see it. Trust me. I took a bullet for you here. Seeing that stuff extruded from those machines…shudder.

What? You DO want to see it?

Well here are some stills…

Not enough? You want to watch the video you say?

Okay, you asked for it. The link is below. Go watch. But if you do promise me you will come back here and leave me a comment with your thoughts. Deal?
